Evaluation

The final performance lived up to my expectations because I feel that we really got our audience into the space, the story and the atmosphere. I feel we achieved the wow factor as we used the architectural factors and media in a way that aided our story and created an experience for the audience that was one of excitement and intrigue.

Running through the performance before hand allowed us to clear up any mistakes or things we weren't sure about. Because we had put a superman t shirt on the wall which is used in the physical theatre part, we had to quickly re work it to fit in the decorated space. We also had to clear up a few entrances and exits but this was made easier as the soundtrack of everyday noises we had made had subtle cues of when certain scenes where supposed to start and end such as, the house music for the party scene or the ' I hate you dad' repeated for the physical scene.

We only had two audience members in the actual performance but I think this was beneficial to both us and the audience as it allowed them to be more comfortable and intimate, but also allowed us to have more space to perform in and more intamacy between us and the audience. I beleive this made the piece more intense allowing the audience to see minor details and take in more of the performance.

Watching other peoples performances before we did ours allowed us to step into the audiences shoes and see what worked and didn't work. This was highly beneficial to us because we could alter our peice to make sure these negative aspects didn't happen to the audience in our performance. It also allowed us to view other peoples devised work which is always inspiring.

Finishing touches

We continued to use more and more architectural features as we were nearing the end of our devising process. In one of the memories it is the mans birthday and no one remembers to show this we had the man standing in the space and three of us walking past with balloons shouting ' oh is it your birthday?' and throwing the balloon in. As we were doing this the man would start to draw a cake on the floor with some chalk that we found. This memory is really stunning visually as you've got the colour of the balloons, the spontaneity of the passers by and the delicacy of a small drawing on the floor so all in all a feist for the eyes.

For our ending we looked at putting a personal touch to it and adding our own important memories to the piece. We thought about using the green light so we found a sheet that we would also use for various other memories to cover the door frame so that the inside if the space became dark. We then stood infront of the light rein acting with our hands a memory whilst also reciting it. This was done whilst film credits rolled down the side of the sheet on a phone to signify the end of the mans film/ life.

We looked at the inside of the site and how we wanted it to look. We decided that we would stick up bits and peices in our rooms or bags on the walls of the space to signify personal items and an almost shrine to the life lived by this man this included

• a superman t shirt

• balloons

• newspaper

• tissues

• a shirt

• a recipt

• food rappers
